New Smart Lock U600 combines Apple Home Key, fingerprint and PIN access with Matter over Thread, weather-resistant hardware and smart home integration.

Aqara, a global leader and pioneer in IoT, today announces the UK launch of the Aqara Smart Lock U600, a new slim smart lock designed with British-style doors in mind and built to bring simpler, more flexible smart access to the front door.

Designed for compatible UK door configurations, the U600 combines a slim 335 × 40.5 × 28 mm exterior panel with support for Apple Home Key, allowing users to unlock their door simply by tapping a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch against the lock.

With Apple Home Key Express Mode enabled, users can access their home without first unlocking their phone or opening an app, making everyday entry particularly convenient when carrying shopping, wearing gloves or coming home in poor weather.

More Ways to Unlock

The Smart Lock U600 gives households a choice of access methods, including: Apple Home Key, Fingerprint recognition, Samsung Wallet Digital Home Key, PIN codes, Aqara Home app, Smart home automations & Traditional mechanical key.  Permanent and time-limited access options also make it easier to provide controlled entry for family members, guests and trusted visitors without sharing a physical key.

Designed for UK Homes

One of the key challenges facing smart lock adoption in the UK is the wide use of multipoint door-locking systems and narrower door furniture compared with many other markets.

The U600 has been developed with these requirements in mind, featuring a slim exterior profile and flexible installation for compatible UK doors.

Most compatible installations can be completed in approximately 15–30 minutes using a screwdriver, depending on the existing door and lock configuration.

Apple Home Key Meets Matter over Thread

Alongside Apple Home Key, the U600 features Matter over Thread, allowing it to become part of a broader connected home.

With an appropriate Thread-enabled Matter Controller, the lock can integrate with major smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant and Homey.

This allows the front door to become a trigger for wider home automations. For example, unlocking the U600 after arriving home in the evening could automatically switch on hallway lighting or activate a preferred heating or lighting scene.

Built for Everyday British Weather

The U600 exterior unit carries an IP65 weather-resistance rating and is designed to operate across temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C, helping it cope with changing UK weather conditions throughout the year.

For additional peace of mind, the lock also includes a concealed USB-C emergency power connection if its batteries become fully depleted, alongside traditional mechanical key access as a further backup.

A Smarter Front Door with Aqara

The U600 can also work alongside other Aqara products to create a more connected entrance experience.

When paired with the Aqara Video Doorbell G410, users can see who is at their door through the live video feed and unlock the U600 for a trusted visitor when appropriate.

The lock can also form part of Aqara automations involving lighting, heating, cameras and other connected devices, enabling the home to respond automatically when residents arrive.
